Humanity was created in God’s image with unlimited potential. The whole world spoke one common language and set out to build the most advanced civilisation with a city and tower reaching up to the heavens. God said of the enormous potential of humanity, “If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them.”
People have often reasoned that if there is a great and powerful Creator God in heaven, then why is there such division, trouble, suffering and strife in the world? Politicians promise solutions but the world leaders become corrupt and contribute to the problems confronting humanity. God’s purpose for humanity was not just for unity while there was the potential for rebellion against him, but that humanity should be united in love under his chosen King Jesus, who was yet to be revealed.
Long before the coming of Jesus, God had scattered and divided humanity and confused their language and deliberately subjected the whole of his creation to frustration with the confident hope that in human despair, people would seek and find God – and be reconciled to him through Jesus the King. God’s project began with the calling of Abraham.
God called Abraham to leave his country, his people and his own father’s household to go to a place that God would show him and he said to Abraham, “I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you. ” So Abraham went, as the Lord had told him (Genesis 12:1-4).
Wherever you were born, from whatever nationality or language and in whatever country you live, God is calling you to leave everything to follow him. Are you prepared to take on this great challenge and journey of faith? Through faith in Jesus and through the work of the Holy Spirit, God is creating a new humanity who are, together with Abraham, heirs of the whole world – (this will be further elaborated upon in the articles published for the New Humanity Project).
It is abundantly clear from the Scriptures that God’s chosen nation, according to his promise to Abraham, are those who are made a new humanity through the power of the Holy Spirit. The racial barrier that once existed between Jew and gentile has been completely broken down through Jesus. All former racial, language and national barriers are broken down as God is creating a new humanity reconciled to him in love and peace.
Jesus Christ is our peace and he has destroyed all racial and national barriers. His purpose was to create in himself one new humanity thus making peace, and in one body to reconcile both of them to God through the cross, by which he put to death their hostility. He came and preached peace to you who were far away and peace to those who were near. For through him we both have access to the Father by one Spirit (adapted from Ephesians 2:11-18).
Are you concerned about the troubles in the world? Do you long for peace and unity? Then it is time to stop conforming to the old, frustrated pattern of this greedy, selfish world in which so many people are living in fear and despair. We do not need democracy, (literally the power of the people), to elect the righteous King, for God has established Jesus as King by raising him from the dead and seating him on the highest throne in heaven.
So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! (2 Corinthians 5:11-17).
The new creation is a present reality, we are the new humanity united in Jesus Christ by the Holy Spirit, let us, therefore, no longer conform to the pattern of this world. Let it be known that we are one holy nation not confined or divided by national and geographical borders.
Take up the challenge and humbly submit to God’s purpose by being filled with the Holy Spirit through faith in Jesus the Messiah. God’s purpose is to create the new humanity where the former racial and nationality barriers in the flesh are counted as dead and buried with Jesus. We are raised to a new life by the Holy Spirit.
There are many nationalities, ethnic groups, language groups but God is calling people our of darkness in the one holy nation which submits to our King who is seated in heaven upon the highest throne.
There are many churches and denominations which have a localised focus. Join with us through this initiative in which we can begin to speak with one united voice through The New Humanity Project on a global forum to establish peace and unity through the power of the Holy Spirit. Jesus prayed for his faithful disciples that through his Spirit working within them, they would be brought to complete unity. God will accomplish this as we humbly submit to him.
Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called ; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all (Ephesians 4:3-6)
The vision for The New Humanity Project is to effectively establish channels of communication for the kingdom of God to reach Christians throughout the world to bring us together as one new humanity.
The noble ideology of us coming together and being recognised throughout the world as the new humanity governed by the love of God may begin as only an unattainable goal that, as far as the sceptics are concerned, simply won’t happen in the “real world” or in this present age, but we should never underestimate the power of the Holy Spirit who only requires, (or demands), our obedience.
If you think this is a high ideal, consider this: Already one-third of the world’s population acknowledges that Jesus is the Messiah, the King of kings. But clearly, not all are faithfully obedient, seeking, as their first priority, the kingdom of God. Let us become co-workers, working towards restoring Christians to faithful obedience to Christ.
God’s stated purpose is that he is creating a new humanity in Christ – and it is God who works in us to will and to act according to his good purpose (Philippians 2:13).
All that is required of us is humble, faithful obedience. This is not a call for Christians to leave their churches or other activities, but to unite in yet another global forum to speak with one voice as we are moved by the Holy Spirit. United we will stand.
Rather than trying to persuade people to join this or that denomination, we hope to inform, to teach and to encourage interaction in accordance with the Scriptural theme of one new humanity working for peace.
We all long for unity and peace and God Almighty will bring it about.
Humanity confined to the flesh remains divided through race, nationality, language and will never become united through politicians or world leaders. The new humanity is a project directed by the Holy Spirit. If you are in Christ, you are already a part of the new humanity and are invited to join this forum through which we may start speaking with one united voice.
You are not in the realm of the flesh but are in the realm of the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, they do not belong to Christ (Romans 8:9).
Jesus is the Shepherd King and he is gathering his holy people through one Spirit and one faith – may you have an ear to hear what the Spirit is saying. Join The New Humanity Project. The project is to wrestle with the issues that divide and it is to equip believers with sound teaching. It is a call for complete participation. It is a forum through which we may hear the Holy Spirit, pose questions, make suggestions so that we may all reach maturity and unity in our faithfulness to our King in heaven.
Now is the time, in submission to Jesus, that if as one people speaking with one voice, we resolve to walk in humility and faithfulness, then nothing God has purposed, for the new humanity, will be impossible for the Holy Spirit to accomplish – in and through us.
Come out of the world. Do not be tossed to and fro by every wind of doctrine and all the false prophets, train your ear to hear what the Holy Spirit is saying to the churches.
Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is —his good, pleasing and perfect will (Romans 12:1-2).
