The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace. The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so. Those who are in the realm of the flesh cannot please God (Romans 8:6-8).
Brainwashing (also known as mind control, menticide, coercive persuasion, thought control, thought reform, and re-education) is the concept that the human mind can be altered or controlled by certain psychological techniques. Brainwashing is said to reduce its subject’s ability to think critically or independently, to allow the introduction of new, unwanted thoughts and ideas into the subject’s mind,as well as to change his or her attitudes, values, and beliefs [source Wikipedia at this link here).
Peoples minds have been made spiritually dull and have been taken captive by Satan in his rebellious and jealous rage through which he is trying to draw humanity into his rebellion against God. People may hate the idea of propaganda, brainwashing and mind-control, while at the very same time being absolutely oblivious to the fact that they are caught up in a spiritual battle in which their minds are subtly being turned against God through their own human lusts and coveting in the realm of the flesh and this material world.
By the humility and gentleness of Christ, I appeal to you—I, Paul, who am “timid” when face to face with you, but “bold” toward you when away! I beg you that when I come I may not have to be as bold as I expect to be toward some people who think that we live by the standards of this world. For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. And we will be ready to punish every act of disobedience, once your obedience is complete (2 Corinthians 10:1-6).
I hope you will put up with me in a little foolishness. Yes, please put up with me! I am jealous for you with a godly jealousy. I promised you to one husband, to Christ, so that I might present you as a pure virgin to him. But I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent’s cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray from your sincere and pure devotion to Christ. For if someone comes to you and preaches a Jesus other than the Jesus we preached, or if you receive a different spirit from the Spirit you received, or a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it easily enough.
I do not think I am in the least inferior to those “super-apostles.” I may indeed be untrained as a speaker, but I do have knowledge. We have made this perfectly clear to you in every way (2 Corinthians 11:1-6).
Atheists find some kind of intellectual satisfaction or justification for their unbelief, in some extreme cases, almost an evil pleasure, when they feel that they are able to “prove” that God does not exist. If God does not exist in their darkened minds, then they believe they won’t have to be accountable to him either. This attitude is not that of an open and enquiring mind that may indeed desire to be reconciled to God if he does indeed exist – and he does.
It gives agnostics some kind of “humble” satisfaction to pretend to themselves (and to others), to really be quite open-minded, but simply just not yet persuaded in their minds as to who God is, (that is if, as they suppose, he even does actually exist), – so that they may not need to give account to him, because, after all, they just don’t know him yet. What they do know, however, is they are procrastinating while “sitting on the fence”. However, humanity does not have the privilege to procrastinate and waver in their opinions for ever. All humans are going to die and will then have to give account to God for not listening to him when he spoke through his Son whom he also raised from the dead. When they die what or who will they be confronted with?
The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, and their ways are vile; there is no one who does good. God looks down from heaven on all mankind to see if there are any who understand, any who seek God. Everyone has turned away, all have become corrupt; there is no one who does good, not even one. Do all these evildoers know nothing? (Psalm 53:1-4).
We may all want to be in control of our own destinies. We may want to be in control of our own minds, thoughts and opinions. But not one of us can control the day that we die and neither are we able to raise ourselves from the dead. Is it not preferable to surrender our thoughts to God so that we don’t delude ourselves?
Drug addicts get addicted to drugs because it offers them an escape from reality and the chemical enhancement of their minds becomes really addictive. People think they are living in the “real world” but they are really under as much of a delusion as those who hallucinate on drugs, if they reject the eternal knowledge of God which, as destructive as drugs become for the addict, will lead them to destruction and eternal condemnation. They will face eternal condemnation because God very quietly, in the most still voice, demands that we give account to Him for He is our Creator in whose hands lies our eternal destinies.
“Therefore since we are God’s offspring, we should not think that the divine being is like gold or silver or stone—an image made by human design and skill. In the past God overlooked such ignorance, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent. For he has set a day when he will judge the world with justice by the man he has appointed. He has given proof of this to everyone by raising him from the dead.”
When they heard about the resurrection of the dead, some of them sneered, but others said, “We want to hear you again on this subject” (Acts 17:29-32).
The truth is that people are being brainwashed and their minds are being controlled by a lying, misrepresentation of who God is and what he requires of us – whether they acknowledge that they are deluded or not.
Why not surrender your pattern of thinking to the Holy One who created the vastness of the human brain and mind? Let His thoughts become your thoughts, for the fear of the LORD is the beginning of true, pure, spiritual wisdom from heaven. It is nothing but sheer and contemptible arrogance for the creature to dare to think that they know better than the Creator.
Do you profess to know more than God? How utterly foolish for the creature to argue that the Creator does not eve exist! People try to dismiss God and pretend that he doesn’t even exist. Or, if they say that they believe that there is a God but that he is really unknowable, they imagine him to be according to what they would like him to be. That is idolatry! For, to “believe” in a vague God of your own human imagination, is to reject the knowledge of God which he has revealed through Jesus Christ. To believe in a god other than the Holy One of Israel, is like that of making an idol. All of humanity is being judged for arrogance and pride in various forms, because God only reveals himself through Jesus Christ to the humble and he resists the proud, leaving them in their own error. How foolish to persuade yourself that God is not the Holy One who has revealed himself in Jesus the Messiah.
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts. As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it” (Isaiah 55:8-11).
Do you want to really know God and adjust your thinking to align with His vast wisdom? Really?
In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe. The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven. So he became as much superior to the angels as the name he has inherited is superior to theirs (Hebrews 1:1-4).
What folly it is to brush aside and to dismiss what God has said through the Hebrew prophets? But what greater folly it is to dismiss what God has said – in the very person of Jesus the Son of God.
Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is —his good, pleasing and perfect will (Romans 12:1-2).
The New Humanity are given the mind of Christ through which they are also reconciled to God through his love and mercy.
